The Victory III-class Star Destroyer was the final improvement of the Victory-class series of Star Destroyers, having been constructed so as to be piloted within a planet's atmosphere, as well as enough weaponry to sear a planet's surface from that position, or even to enter combat in space. It was believed to be the predecessor to the Imperial III-class Star Destroyer, alongside the Imperial I and Imperial II-classes.
