| - Following the defeat of the evil wizard Enuo, humans turned to sealing the souls of malevolent beings in a tree within the Great Forest of Moore. Said tree gradually became self-aware, and became just as evil as every soul within it. And so, Exdeath was born.

- Exdeath, also known as "X-Death", "ExDeath", and "Exodus", is the main antagonist from Final Fantasy V. He is an immensely powerful, competent, manipulative, and demonic being born from all of the evil souls sealed inside a great magical tree, who manifests as an imposing knight clad in holy looking armor with his other forms invoking the Dark Knight Motif; he believes firmly and aims to take control of the Void to take over the world. His alternate form is Neo Exdeath.
- Most of his abilities and actions involve defense, but when he successfully guards from an incoming attack the resulting counter attacks will be brutal. Due to his play style, his movement is unusually slow.
- In his tree form, Exdeath's torso and head are visible, but are a darker shade of blue. Below the torso he shows his true form as a tree, the bark forming a demonic face on the tree's side. Neo Exdeath is a gray-skinned demon with red horns and muscular limbs and the various demons that composed his previous form manifesting from the waist down.
- Tras la derrota del mago Enuo, el mundo fue dividido en dos para que el poder del Vacío pudiera sellarse. Nella prima traduzione inglese del gioco era chiamato X-Death, mentre nell'anime spin-off Final Fantasy: la Leggenda dei Cristalli è chiamato Exodes. Exdeath compare come personaggio giocabile in Dissidia Final Fantasy e Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, contrapposto a Bartz come rappresentante malvagio di Final Fantasy V. Occasionalmente è apparso anche in alcuni titoli spin-off, sia come nemico che come personaggio giocabile.

Sämtliche seiner Handlungen sind darauf ausgelegt, die Menschheit zu tyrannisieren und zu unterjochen.
