  • Agoraphobia was an anxiety disorder that resulted in fear of open spaces. Most members of the Selonian species suffered from a mild to significant form of agoraphobia, as Selonians native to Selonia lived their entire lives beneath the planet's surface. During the Battle of Endor, the Alliance to Restore the Republic starfighter pilot Ibtisam was shot out of her craft and was left floating helplessly through space. As a result, she developed a mild form of agoraphobia. Toong were known to experience agoraphobia, due to their nature as a species.

  • Agoraphobia was a psychological condition. The sufferer could exhibit a fear of open spaces and the outside, sometimes to the point where he could not leave his own home, although that is not the only symptom. Ethan Amberglass identified the phobia with fear of trains. Although he denied being agoraphobic, he did admit to not "lik[ing] being in crowds". • Agoraphobia is a very common disorder, occurring in about one out of every 50 people in the United States. It affects women more often than men and it usually has an onset after the age of twenty. In addition to anxiety, patients can also suffer from feelings of dissociation as memories fail to form in the stressful environment, a feeling of disconnection from one's own self, and a feeling of disconnection from the surroundings. It is also common for agoraphobics to suffer from fear of death, and to feel anxiety when familiar people from their surroundings, such as parents, spouses, siblings and children, are not in the house.
  • Well, this note will save you a lot of time and shock. Here is a summary of your life's details and your current predicament: You are Jerome Thomson, age 57, got your license to drive in the state of Montana, in the United States. Whatever, or wherever that is, I don't know. I doubt it matters. You should NEVER leave this house. There is something, or things, outside. I only assume that they want to hurt you because I've been too frightened to leave. I only hear footsteps, fast ones, and then harsh and desperate banging on the door. Sometimes the banging comes without provoking them, just at random intervals. Another very important thing is that you have limited food, but seemingly unlimited water. Ethan Amberglass identified the phobia with fear of trains. Although he denied being agoraphobic, he did admit to not "lik[ing] being in crowds". (PROSE: The Algebra of Ice) Kosi was agoraphobic, according to Ace "happier with four blank walls around [her]" than in the open, but wondrous, places around her like the Moloch Base. Kosi could not stand the lack of factories and living towers. (PROSE: Lucifer Rising) Agoraphobe Cristián Alvarez found himself unable to work or shop. (PROSE: The Left-Handed Hummingbird) When Ed Morgan was submitted to an insane asylum, he was diagnosed agoraphobic. This was mainly due to guilt and fear after raping and murdering Lizzie Lewis in 1963. (TV: Ghost Machine) Having found a metal bug in Martin Chisom's forcing shed, the Third Doctor described its species as "agoraphobic micro-aliens from a compact dimension". The bug displayed a desire to reside permanently within the shed, in line with this condition. (AUDIO: Lost in the Wakefield Triangle) According to Bernice Summerfield, one girl suffering from the condition committed suicide within 24 hours of getting locked in the Glass Prison — she "couldn't bear the lack of comforting non-see-through walls". (PROSE: The Glass Prison) Samantha Jones felt "the first twinges" of agoraphobia when in Hyspero, a planet with deserts and seas that seemed to go on forever. (PROSE: The Scarlet Empress) Alistair Gryffen began suffering from agoraphobia after he lost his wife and children. (TV: The Fall of the House of Gryffen) He finally overcame his fear to shut down the Space-Time Manipulator. (TV: The Eclipse of the Korven) As Lucas Seyton perhaps joked, organisations like "Agoraphobics Anonymous" existed in 1933 London. (PROSE: Fallen Angel)

It is also common for agoraphobics to suffer from fear of death, and to feel anxiety when familiar people from their surroundings, such as parents, spouses, siblings and children, are not in the house. The causes of the condition are not well understood. It is common in people who suffer from other anxiety disorders, those who have lived in a stressful home or work environment, and in people who abuse drugs. There is also a correlation with those who have difficulty maintaining balance and orientation. Treatment of agoraphobes is difficult. Behavioral therapy to slowly expose the patient to stressful environments is often effective, but slow and expensive. Anti-anxiety drugs are useful, but are often less successful. Several famous people have admitted to bouts of agoraphobia, including Woody Allen, Kim Basinger, football legend Earl Campbell, Macaulay Culkin and recluse Howard Hughes.

I would find Something to keep yourself entertained because you aren't going anywhere anytime soon. I'm sorry to have to say that but, that's the truth. Be careful, be conservative with your food, and for god's sake DO NOT OPEN THE DOORS OR WINDOWS. P.S. Pin this note to the wall near your bed every night before bed, somewhere where you won't miss it. I put the note back on the wall where i found it. With a shaky hand, i picked up my wallet to confirm what the note had said. I saw a Montana driver's license issued to me- Jerome Thomson. For the next half hour, i cried. Once i accepted my situation I got up and explored the house where i would spend the rest of my life. My tomb. Across the street Mrs. Anita Thomson stared out the window facing her former home. Her husband had been in there for almost two weeks without contact to the outside world. Her friend, Jacky Whitman, sat next to her, and added the sorrowful scene. Anita thought of how much she wished that she was widowed, like Jacky, then at least she wouldn't have the false hope that Jerome would remember to take his pills. One for Alzheimer's, two for agoraphobia.
