A small organization of hunters dating back to Renaissance Europe, The Alchemists are centered around the goal of discovering and preserving supernatural knowledge. They claim to have historical ties to virtually all other Hunter and otherwise supernatural organizations, including the Knights Templar, Freemasons, and Illuminati, among others. This is somewhat true but rather intentionally overstated. Most such groups tend to come to a sticky end if they make their motives even remotely public, from a variety of forces that would rather see them destroyed. The Roadhouse is perhaps a good contemporary example of this.

They claim to have historical ties to virtually all other Hunter and otherwise supernatural organizations, including the Knights Templar, Freemasons, and Illuminati, among others. This is somewhat true but rather intentionally overstated. Most such groups tend to come to a sticky end if they make their motives even remotely public, from a variety of forces that would rather see them destroyed. The Roadhouse is perhaps a good contemporary example of this. The Alchemists owe their survival to their near-obsessive level of secrecy. A very small handful know how to contact someone who serves as a front for a cloistered monastery, and monasteries are forbidden from knowing anything about each other. The handful that know how to contact a monastery have the full-time occupations of providing them supplies as well as new members. New members are traditionally children orphaned by supernatural events, though on rare occasion an accomplished adult will be welcomed to the fold. Such children are trained in a variety of skills specific to the monastery, some focusing on martial arts and weaponry, with others focusing on supernatural knowledge. Upon reaching twenty two years old, students are granted official membership into The Mendicant Order of the Alchemists, becoming a friar, and sent out into the world. Given the nature of their work, friars are educated into various methods of fraud, as they cannot support themselves through traditional charity. It is taught as a "necessary sin," and most monastery members are far enough removed from society not to question it.
