  • Midfielder Matthew Lund joined Rovers on a month's loan at the end of January 2012 from Premier League side Stoke City. He had yet to play a game for his parent club, and was sent out on a temporary deal in order to gain some first team experience, as well as to provide cover in The Pirates' injury ravaged midfield. He played in all four of Rovers' games during his initial month-long spell, leading to his loan being extended for a further two months, the maximum permitted by league rules for a player brought in using the emergency loan system. In all he made thirteen appearances for The Gas, all in the league, and scored twice in the final game of his loan spell. He returned to the Memorial Stadium in mid-July 2012 to train with the squad while the details of another loan move were finalised. The Pirates eventually agreed a six-month deal with his parent club, signing the paperwork on 26 July. His second spell saw him make 18 league appearances, as well as one each in the FA Cup and League Cup. As with his previous loan, he scored in his final game before returning to Stoke. He has represented Northern Ireland at under-21 level, playing in a 2–0 defeat to Wales at the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham.
