Jack Watson (born Hubert Watson on 15th May, 1915, died 4th July, 1999) was a British actor best known to Coronation Street viewers as sailor Bill Gregory, who appeared in the programme in 1961, 1962, 1970, 1983 and finally 1984 when he emigrated to Portugal with his longtime on-off sweetheart Elsie Tanner. Early in his career, Jack performed onstage with his father, music hall comedian Nosmo King before progressing to radio in such programmes as Hancock's Half Hour. Jack's television credits also include Z Cars, Upstairs, Downstairs, The Onedin Line, Minder and Dempsey & Makepeace.
