The North American hyrax is a species of hyrax that lives in deserts, scrublands, savannahs, grasslands, forests, swamps, cities, towns, urban areas, and suburbs of North America. It is a herbivore. Unlike other hyrax species, they can tolerate human activities very well, along with urban deer, urban tapirs, and urban boars. They are found from as north as the middle part of Canada to as far south as the middle part of Mexico.
