TWP was formed after the Ken Dunlop owned AWA (Australian Wrestling Alliance) folded in 1998. The initial owners were David Barrand, Sean Barrand and Jumpin Josh. September of 1999 saw the first and only change in ownership with Jumpin Josh retiring from professional wrestling, leaving David and Sean Barrand as the owners. In the debut live event on the 6th of October 1998, AWA Champion Red Flair took on Dean Draven for the TWP Heavyweight title. Draven won the match and unified the AWA title with the newly created TWP title before a crowd of 300 people at the Ingleburn RSL club.
