The 1998 UAW-GM Quality 500 was a Winston Cup (now Nextel Cup) event held at Charlotte Motor Speedway on October 4, 1998. Mark Martin dominated the event, leading 215 of 334 laps in route to his seventh and final event of the year. Martin, though, still trailed Jeff Gordon (5th) by 174 markers in the points. This was also the final race at the track while it was still known as "Charlotte Motor Speedway." It's name was changed to "Lowe's Motor Speedway" in time for the 1999 Coca-Cola 600. Stats
