Rand awakens to light, then pain, then memory of his battle against the Dark One. A burning smell causes him to survey his surroundings, where the remains of Aginor reside from their battle over the Eye of the World. Thoughts of Egwene bring him to his feet. He tumbles down a hill like a drunkard after her and finds a trio of women resting underneath an oak. He touches her cheek and imagines a slight pulling away. The women exclaim that they are all alright. Rand begins explaining how he defeated the Dark One and pauses as he recalls how he won the fight- by Channeling the One Power, tainted saidin. He reaches for Egwene and she shies away, hiding her face before abruptly apologizing with a hug. Moiraine demands an explanation and confesses her earlier suspicions at Watch Hill.

The rest of the group exits the Eye with a giant chest, fragments of pottery, and a folded white cloth. The chest contains the Horn of Valere, the fragments turn out to be shattered pieces of one of the Seals to the Dark One's prison, and the cloth is unfurled to reveal the Dragon Banner. The party spends the night at the Green Man's home one more time as the Blight rushes in to destroy his creation.
