They are learned by improving Skills, and must be leveled themselves in order to unlock Super Specialties.

  • This specialty means that every hero in the game has a unique bonus. For example, in Heroes III, Aeris increases the attack and defense of his pegasi and silver pegasi, Mullich gives all his creatures +2 speed, and Sephinroth generates a crystal every day. Most campaign-only heroes borrow a specialty from a regular hero. For example, Tarnum from the Heroes Chronicles uses Crag Hack's Offense specialty while he's a Barbarian.
  • A specialty is a special area of expertise owned by a tech team. Each technology component requires a single specialty. When a tech team's specialty matches up with that of the component, research toward that component proceeds much quicker.
