The GSS Admiral Rishar was named after the famous Admiral Rishar of the Griffon Alliance who died of suspect circumstances. Its primary use was for quick, light operations in space against pirates, escort of merchant ships, and infrequent support of more substantial warships such as the GSS Harbinger or the GSS Gabriel. The only time it was assigned for a specific defence purpose was the defense of Mutanda. The Griffon forces were too far extended at that juncture to assign better defences to the Horansi homeworld, and the planet fell easily back into the hands of the Empire.

The GSS Admiral Rishar was one of the medium ships that saw the most activity in the Griffon Fleet. It was called into service one last time during the New Republic's Operation Shado Kolpo in 15 ABY, where it was destroyed in the final and catastrophic wave of the operation by the HIMS Broadsword.
