| - Though technically a strange extraterrestrial, Pollination Technician 9 is the patriarch of Strangetown, and father of four of its citizens. Although he seems to have had a very strange occupation in his adulthood, Pollination Technician 9 always wanted to just have a regular family. Retiring some time before his ascent into elder-hood, he adopted the last name "Smith" and started a new family in the heart of Strangetown, becoming a well-known community leader who is respected and admired by most of his neighbors, excluding his resentful neighbor - and enemy - General Buzz Grunt, with whom he is feuding. He is married to Jenny Smith and is the father of Johnny and Jill Smith. He is a family Sim, and had an important part in taking care of his and Jenny's children. He taught all toddler skills to Johnny and two toddler skills to Jill, while Jenny only taught her how to walk. Since he has no memories of having a job after retiring to the Sim planet, he probably stayed home with the kids, and therefore had the time to teach them. He is also the father of the twins Lola Singles and Chloe Singles through the alien abduction of Glarn Curious. Note that, although the family description states that the Sim planet is his favorite, he is only known to have carried out a single pollination there, according to his family tree. (What he may or may not have done elsewhere in SimNation or on the Sim planet is left to players' imaginations.) He seems to be one of the very few aliens to have hair, most of them have similar facial features, but are bald. Unlike most aliens, who have black hair genetics, he has red hair genetics; his daughter, Chloe, has red hair and her human father, Glarn, has black hair (shown in pictures and in Lazlo, Pascal, and Lola's hair). If he has more children with Jenny while she's still an adult, there is a 50% chance that they will have red hair. In one of the Smith family storytelling images, it is confirmed that Pollination Technician 9 used to have red hair as an adult. When the Smith family is first played, he is 10 days away from death. There is a poster from the University expansion pack called Surfing the Universe, which depicts an alien named #RT66 who is described as Pollination Technician #9's cousin. Despite this, the family tree does not show #RT66. Even though he won a fight with General Buzz, their relative body skills are inconsistent with that. This can be reconciled if it is assumed that they fought before Buzz maximized the Body skill, and Buzz was unlucky. (According to Buzz's memories, he was at Military level 8, which requires at least 7 Body points, when they had the fight.) He and General Buzz have a relatively positive lifetime relationship with one another. Players have used this as a way of dissolving Buzz's prejudice against aliens.
