| - Asael was Kroda the Hutt's champion gladiator on Nar Kresh. He was taken into slavery sometime during the rise of the Empire, not long after the Clone Wars, by the Direj Kajidic. Seeing the potential in his new slave, Kroda shipped the Devaronian off to Nar Kresh to fight for him in the gladiatorial arenas on the world. He began as an unconfident fighter, but resigned to his stature as a slave and gladiator. He was content on becoming one of Kroda's gladiators. Compared to the rest of Kroda's fighters, he was considered weak and small, and was often mocked by others.

Asael demonstrated huge amounts of respect for Kroda's current champion, and vowed to become just like him and earn his place among Kroda's gladiators. He quickly gained a friendship with both Kroda's champion and his only gladiator who was skilled enough to compete with him, Gorgg. Asael worked hard, and managed to earn his place. By 0 ABY, Asael rose in his stature and took the mantle of Kroda's champion, reveling at the glory of defeat against his opponents in the arena. Asael grew arrogant of his talent for the games, and maintained his position of champion without a suitable successor. He was virtually unbeatable to the other kajidic gladiators, save one, with which he held a constant rivalry against. Whenever Asael and Verax entered the arena, which was on rare occasions, the stakes grew tenfold. Because of the high profit between their rivalry and skill, no Hutt in charge of the games would be willing to put the other down. Due to his specialty being in melee combat, Kroda seldom allowed Asael to compete in ranged fights, due to the greater amount of wealth he could accumulate from the Devaronian's skills with bladed weaponry and his improvised form of unarmed combat.
