The standard National MG appears to be a conglomeration of the German MG 34 general-purpose machine gun and MG 08/15 "light" machine gun, the former being widely used in WWII and the latter being infamous for its use in Nazi concentration camps. The files indicate the MG40 variant of the M1919asorigin, but they most likely didn't take it too seriously.
