  • Life rune is a rune made using Loste Runecrafting and is used in the Magic skill to cast spells. It can count as every kind of Loste rune at the same time (but only one of each), so a spell that would normally require a plasma rune and two light runes could use two life runes instead. Some spells, such as Annihilate, however, require a life rune not used as a replacement. It requires level 100 Runecrafting to make, so because it's not tradeable, not many players own even a single one.
  • The life rune was a source of much debate among the RuneScape community for some time due to it only being in early versions in the game. However, many of the rumours surrounding it were dispelled in the Development Diary of November 2007, in which Jagex explained its use. Before the announcement of Summoning, the life rune was asked about by a player, who accurately described it, in the June 2007 Postbag from the Hedge. However, the response given by Historian Minas implied that the player had only heard false rumours.
