For 53 years, he was best-known as the voice of Tony the Tiger in more than 500 television commercials for Kellogg's Frosted Flakes.

He also recorded songs for many classic animated films such as You're a Mean 1, Mr. Grinch from How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966), Look Out for Mr. Stork and Pink Elephants on Parade from Dumbo (1941) and No Dogs Allowed from Snoopy, Come Home (1972). He was also married once to June Ravenscroft in 1946. June passed away back in 1999 from unknown causes.
