When Mithredath arrived in Peiraieus on his mission for Khsrish IV, he sought the satrap's residence. Since it was evening, he was challenged by the Guard at the door who opened a small observation window when he knocked. Mithredath replied he was a servant of Khsrish, King of Kings and on a mission given to him by Khsrish's own lips. Further, he wished to discuss this mission with the satrap. This so startled the Guard that he dropped his spear. The Guard then flung open the door and invited Mithredath in while bowing low.

On Mithredath's successful completion of his investigations in the ruins of Athens, he returned to the satrap's residence to draw on the royal treasury for funds to purchase passage home. It was morning so there was a line of people waiting to see Vahauka and his officials and a couple of guards to make sure the line remained orderly. One was the Guard from Mithredath's first visit so he went up to him and demanded he escort him to the satrap. The Guard made no move and coldly told him to wait his turn like everyone else. Mithredath angrily tried to push past but stopped when the Guard levelled his spear at his belly. The Guard repeated "wait your turn, no-stones". Seething Mithredath joined the line.
