Although in the recent relaunch, which is supposed to be a prequel to the originals, the jewel is found in the possession of a coach, it is not explained how it later got to its rightful owner. The princess receieved it as a gift from her father when she was a child.

  • Princess Dala, played by Claudia Cardinale, is the princess of Lugash and original owner of the Pink Panther diamond in the first film. The princess receieved it as a gift from her father when she was a child. The beautiful, corrupt princess, travels to a ski resort. Clouseau follows, hoping to catch The Phantom in the act of stealing the jewel. Sir Charles Lytton, The Phantom himself begins to seduce Dala by having her dog kidnapped and getting her drunk. She later has the jewel stolen herself to avoid deportation back to Lugash, but when Charles is arrested she is willing to part with it to save him, and teams up with Madame Clouseau to frame the detective as the real thief.
