Johnny Joestar(ジョニィ・ジョースターJoni Jōsutā) is the protagonist of Steel Ball Run and a minor character in JoJolion. He is the seventh JoJo of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series. A former horse-racing prodigy turned paraplegic, Johnny joins the SBR race to find out the secret behind Gyro Zeppeli's Steel Balls as they're the only thing capable of healing his legs. A paraplegic ex-jockey, drawn by Gyro Zeppeli's mystical abilities, Johnny develops an aim to redeem himself with a victory in the Steel Ball Run race. Johnny starts out as a supporting character to Gyro. When Steel Ball Run was announced as Part VII in Volume 5 (a turning point for the whole series, switching from Weekly Shonen Jump to seinen magazine Ultra Jump) Johnny gradually comes to stand as the main protagonist alongside Gyro. Johnny may be considered counterpart to Jonathan Joestar, a protagonist of Part I.

In Steel Ball Run's alternate universe version of the world, he takes the place of Jonathan Joestar. He is a paraplegic, and is usually seen wearing a hat with a horse shoe decoration on the front.
