The Otyassi were a group of nomadic Aharian-speaking people native to the Rycolis Plateau, east of the Talathrant river. Actually, the Otyassi were but a branch of the later Rycoli who decided to explore the rough steppes that were beyond the river Talathrant. Building rafts of straw and wood, the Otyassi crossed the Talathrant near the end of the Second Age and settled in the lands of Relmether and Nûrad, but some traveled further, and eventually reached the Pustrava and the lands beyond the Sûrûbeki.

It did not take too long to differentiate from each other when they mixed with those Easterlings of Ioriag blood. Those who had settled in the rich soil of Relmether, became known as the Relerin or Relmetherin, while those who ventured to the northern slopes of the Ered Lithui and mixed with its inhabitants and imposed their code of laws known as the “Vasagh”,later became known as the Odhriags.
