Though they weren't in Cairo at the time, the entire modern city of Cairo was traveled and brought back to the year 2012 B.C. The few people that had been in what was about to become Cairo, were killed. They were replaced by the people from 2012 A.D. Though it took several years, the Pharaoh was eventually able to suppress revolts from the city and to harness small amounts of the technology that came with it (though most of it was lost when 70% of the population was killed in the city). The current year is 1453 AUC (700 A.D.) and the world is still reeling from the last world war. Though some parts of Eurasia have been completely modernized to OTL 1940s technology, the rest of the world is still viewed as savages by Eurasians. The New Egyptian Empire was able to conquer large portions of Asia Minor, and became the center of the world with the largest population at 2.5 Million people (keep in mind that the next most populace nation, Babylonia, only had 600,000 people). But then, came Cyrus the Great. And he created the empire of Parsa. For a nearly 500 years (approx. 500 B.C.- 1 A.D.), the Persian Empire ruled almost all of the civilized realms. Only Ægyptia (which had been reduced to a small area in Southern Ægyptia) posed a real threat. The tiny Helian states of the Peloponnese (Northern Greece was completely conquered by Persia) were always fighting each other. The Italic Tribes were savage barbarians who had a similar war-like culture to that of the Spartans. The Indusians (peoples of India) were becoming closely affiliated with Persia. But starting 50 B.C., things changed. Julius Memaphatus (a warlord of the small Latin Tribe) came to rule the Roman Empire, a small state that was on the Italic Peninsula. He led a campaign against the Parsans in Iberia and Hellas. An alliance was created with the Ægyptians. Together, the Roman and Ægyptian Empires flourished. They conquered vast territories of the old Persia. In 23 A.D., the Romans (now lead by Octavian Caesar) and the Ægyptians (under a new Pharaoh) made peace with Parsa. This marked the end of an era. From about 100 A.D. to 400 A.D., was a time called Pax Romanica. Though it was not as long as Pax Parsa or Pax Ægyptia , it produced greater results. The world was at peace. Science and the arts flourished. It was a time when technology jumped so amazingly, that in 421 the steam engine was invented in Rome. In 398 A.D., the Romans even discovered the Americas (named the Arawakas, after a tribe that the Romans met). Colonization of the Arawakas was slow however. In 401 A.D., Rome established contact with another empire that shook its foundations to the very core. This was Sinoa (China). Sinoa finally united in 403. Relations between these two empires were poor. The following year, thousands of Helians rebelled from Rome. Most were driven out. Many went to Sinoa, where they found a potential ally. They helped modernize Sinoa to Roman standards, and within a short while the Sinoans were only about 20 years behind the Romans, a remarkable feat. Tensions sky-rocketed between the Sinoans and the Romans. Oriens Asia (East Asia) was full of small puppet states of Sinoa. In 463 A.D., Sinoa invaded the now united Hand (India). In 470 A.D., a full scale invasion of the once-mighty Persian Empire. Rome and Ægypt came to Parsa's defense. This would start a massive world-wide war that would last for 174 years. The war finally came to an end when Rome created flight and was able to bombard Chang'an. It was worldwide in the sense that nations all of the world fought in it (even some Olmec Chiefdoms sent a small number of soldiers) but it was mostly fought in Parsa, Hand, and Western Sinoa. Those areas were devastated, but the rest of the world was only devastated economically. During the war, Ægyptia underwent two revolutions. The first revolution was a Pro-Democratic, Pro-Secular Christian backed revolution in 609. The Second was a counter revolution in 611, in which the Old High Priests of Ra overthrew the masses. With money and mercenary might as well as a religion that one could die for, the Priest's counter-revolution worked. An authoritarian state was formed. A great depression occurred throughout the world following the 30 years after the World War. In 622, the Helian League was at last given independence from Rome. Now they are going to the Arawakas and Africa much faster than the Romans. In 644 A.D., the governments of Ægyptia, Yerush, Nubia, Himyar, Yam, Punt, Habaso, Tanget, New Thebes, and Darfu established Concilium Africa. In 646, Rome, Hungary, the Allemani Confederation, the Anglo Confederation, East Olmec Nation, Teuanoco, and Sinoa formed the Societas Auctus Mundi (Organization for the Prosperity of the World). This organization was formed mostly to combat the growing threat of Concilium Africa. 645, there had been several instances where Roman tourists in Ægyptia were captured and actually sacrificed. The High Priests continue to claim that the Gods are getting angrier all the time. In 655, a Pro-Roman revolt in Darfu was brutally put down, setting off the Darfu conflict. Though Rome put lots of arms and money into the Pro-Roman Darfu rebels, they eventually succumbed to the Ægyptian onslaught. Rebellions continue, however. In 663, the native peoples of Darfu were completely killed off in multiple genocides. The Ægyptian elite begin paying Ægyptians to settle in Darfu to repopulate the region. Some Native Darfu are able to escape and seek asylum in Rome. 681: The Government of Allemani collapses. Ægyptian spies are able to infiltrate the region. Wars break out, but over the course of the next five years, Rome manages to restore order. The World is now in a Cold War between Rome and Ægypt, two massive superpowers. Will one side collapse? How soon will the race for arms produce the Atomic weapons that have been theorized? With the rebirth of Hellas, Pro-Democratic Rebellions are spreading like wild fire. Christianity (an ancient religion) is just now starting to kick off. Whose side will the Helians and Persians choose to be on? And most of all, Who will win the Cold War? The Empire that was existed for nearly 4,000 years and has built the pyramids? Or the newcomer who has emerged in recent centuries and has advanced like nothing before? In a way it is a conflict between the old and the contemperary. A conflict, between the Ancient and the New. Welcome to this world.
