Air Squids are truly strange creatures inhabiting the skies of the Mars of the late 19th century. However, don't be fooled by their looks. Once they land, their tentacles can be very dangerous in battle. Thankfully, shooting them down from afar while they're still in the air discards these foes without much of a hassle. One hit by a bullet, and they pop like a balloon. They can be found anywhere on the outside.

Text
  • No Earthly equivalent exists for this, perhaps the strangest and most surprising of Martian creatures. The carnivorous air squid is a remarkable combination of hawk. squid, and, jellyfish. It floats, seemingly harmless, through the sky, its body suspended below a distended bag filled with hydrogen gas. Blessed with keen eyesight, it can spot prey at great distances. When it finds a victim. the air squid drops in vicious, gravity-aided attack. Sharp teeth, a tearing beak and grasping tentacles make the air squid a hideous and effective enemy. Not surprisingly, the first expedition reports no sightings underground. The air squid seems willing to float anywhere prey is to be found. There is no place on the Martian surface free of these deadly creatures.
