  • Prince Pentheus of Meliad plotted with Ares to kill his father, King Iphicles, during the Festival of Dionysus. Part of his plan was also to steal his brother, Nestor's girlfriend, Marysa, and marry her. When his plot was foiled by Hercules, Pentheus prayed to Ares for help and was temporarily given the god's strength. It was not enough to defeat Hercules, however, and Pentheus was doomed to clean the dungeons of Meliad for the rest of his days.
