  • Shoggoth was a Cardassian novelist who wrote many noted enigma tale mysteries. In 2371, Elim Garak gave Julian Bashir a holonovel of one of Shoggoth's books as a birthday present. (DS9: "Distant Voices") In the Worlds of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine story, "The Lotus Flower", an unknown Cardassian finds an old copy of one of Shoggoth's enigma tale novels. The name "Shoggoth" is an in-joke, and was coined by H.P. Lovecraft to refer to a monster in his novels.
  • Shoggoths are amorphous, shapeshifting beings. They were genetically engineered by the Elder Things as a race of servant-tools, but eventually rose up against their masters and drove them to extinction. Shoggoths are now found in isolated locales across Earth.
  • Shoggoths were large, amorphous cretures that could take any shape they so desired.
  • The Shoggoth is a monster depicted in the works of H.P. Lovecraft. The Shoggoth is almost always depicted as very large and frightening. It serves as the main antagonist of the Lovecraft Science Fantasy novel, At the Mountains of Madness.

  • Shoggoth are creatures from H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos and appear as slime-like entities. They can take whatever form is necessary for their task and have a myriad of eyes within them. They were created by the Elder Things to be beasts of burden billions of years ago but eventually turned against their creators. They tend to serve human cultists or Great Old Ones in the current era.
  • Shoggoth are said to have been around for eons. Legends also claim that, when compared to any other oozes, shoggoth have much greater wisdom. Shoggoth were once the servants of an even more ancient race, the elder things, but cast off their masters after eons of evolution endowed them with a sort of half-sentience. They appear in many elements of the Lovecraftian Mythos, playing a central role in the novel "At the Mountains of Madness", and speculated to be behind the effects observed in "The Colour Out of Space".
  • The Shoggoth was a creature that dwelt in the northern sectors of Krypton. Its body was surrounded by a green membrane, with only a large flexible pink tentacle protruding from it. At the end of the limb, a claw with three spiked nails could be used to hold onto objects. Jor-El was once attacked by a shoggoth during his research. He managed to shake it off his platform by scraping it against an icy wall.
  • Shoggoth ist ein Cardassianer und Autor von Rätselgeschichten. 2371 schenkt Garak Dr. Bashir eine von Shoggoths Rätselgeschichten als Holoroman. (DS9: )
  • They sometimes (60%) attempt to move into melee range before attacking. Their attacks consist of unarmed melee attacks (76.0%), Heal Critical (19%), and Regeneration (5%). Shoggoths can make decent performers if captured.
  • Luckily for those who encounter them, shoggoths are not whirly like air elementals, and thus a wand of digging will work to expel you and set them to one hit point. However, an engulfed player still has to deal with their 8d10 engulfing damage at least once, not to mention their bite and corrosion attacks. If you have few hitpoints, it is best to avoid being engulfed altogether. Note that acid resistance, as granted by a lab coat (similar to an alchemy smock but provides MC 3) or yellow dragon scale mail will protect you against the damage from the engulfing attack, but not from the biting attacks.
  • Shoggoths are described as large "multicellular protoplasmic masses" or amorphous blobs, faintly luminescent and filled with gelatinous bubbles; with several eyes and temporary organs constantly forming and un-forming upon them. Almost mindless at the beginning, they were controlled through a form of hypnotic influence and could shape their appearance and essence to serve for several tasks; but regularly for construction. The Shoggoths were mostly used in the underwater cities of the Elder Things, whilst those on land preferred the domestication of Earthly beasts (such as dinosaurs).
