Cao Cao invites Xiu/Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei for dinner, and later offers them a place to stay in hopes to make use of their potential. Soldiers of He Dong Institute come to Dong Han Academy and blocks everyone outside with the Eight Doors Golden Lock Formation, arguing to exchange Zhao Yun with their school. While trying to break it, Xiu/Liu Bei and Xiao Qiao are captived in the formation's world. In order to rescue them and save the school from He Dong Institute's hands, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei seek out other warriors in hopes to make use of their strengths. Their search leads to Ma Chao, member of a famous warrior family, and Huang Zhong, a skilled arrow shooter. With the combined strengths of Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Zhao Yun, Ma Chao, and Huang Zhong, they walk into the world of illusion to face the different trials. While the challenges toughen them out, the soon-to-be Five Tiger Generals bond with one another. After a long struggle and near-death experience, they finally break the Eight Doors Golden Lock Formation and free Xiu/Liu Bei and Xiao Qiao.
