Furrtil was a female mole Dibbun of Redwall Abbey. She was often led astray to go on many mischievous adventures by Mousebabe. On one such occasion, the two dibbuns went into Mossflower Woods, with the mousebabe brandishing a stick (The Sword of Martin the Warrior) and Furrtil with a piece of knotted twine (Mariel's Gullwhacker). They were "captured" by Captain Slipp and Blaggut. They were later found by Oak Tom and Treerose, who brought all of them back to the Abbey. Captain Slipp attempted to harm the Dibbuns in pursuit of "treasure", but instead killed Mother Mellus. Blaggut befriended the pair, and gave up the life of a searat.
