Avalhein was once a grand Ceree city located in the heart of Malleithen. Stories that did not survive the Great Division made it explicit that the city was one of wealth and prosperity. "And the streets were paved with gold. The homes stood on foundations of gold and windows were bordered with silver. Everywhere one would look, one would be hit by the beauty that was Avalhein. Buildings seemed to have been created by the Ancestor's very hands and they seemed to flow from the very ground. Colored glass cast wonderful shades and tints over the entire city." ―Codex of Ages, Stories of the Golden Age

Everyone, including those of other races flooded into the city day by day to seek the counsel of the many councils of Avalhein. Others still came to ply their crafts or learn from the many guilds that were in Avalhein. "Everywhere that one would look, hawkers cried their produce and the looms were at work. Pickpockets were unheard of and crime was inexistent." ―Codex of Ages, Stories of the Golden Age Eventually, as it became apparent that the Dark One was stirring , visitors to the city began to dwindle as military preparations were made. This was when the Avalhein Council was formed. It was a council that ruled over Avalhein as none had ever before it and its purpose was mainly for war. The guilds were drafted to join the battle for their many skills. After the war was the Fall, as the Ceree once put it. Even before the Great Division, the city was destroyed by the Dark One's taint on the land. The only thing that lived on about the city were the stories. Even those, faded after the breaking for Ceree would not tell the story because the loss was too great.
