Synopsis
  • Indigo attempts to override her Brainiac-8 programming, but is finding it increasingly difficult to do so. The Outsiders and the Teen Titans are caught in a crossfire between Brainiac, Lex Luthor and a mind-controlled Superboy. Luthor turns his weaponry upon Wonder Girl, causing her no small amount of injury. The shock of seeing this breaks Superboy's mental programming and he returns to normal. Although the Kryptonite in Luthor's gauntlet weakens him, he continues to advance and prevents Luthor from attacking anyone else. As always though, Luthor manages to escape. The larger threat however is Brainiac himself. Nightwing orders Starfire to take to the sky and unleash the full might of her power. She directs her attack towards Brainiac's ship and it comes crashing to the ground. The others concentrate their firepower on Indigo. They weaken her to the point of death, but in her final moments, she is truly herself again. She knows that Brainiac 8 will not stop until the heroes are dead, so she asks Shift to transform her into flesh and blood - since he cannot give her life, this will kill both Indigo and Brainiac 8. Shift reluctantly does so, and the battle is technically won. Before dying, she professes her love to Shift. However, Nightwing leaves the Outsiders. From the planetoid of New Chronus, Donna Troy, back from the dead, monitors events taking place on Earth.
