Allan played for both the Barons and Stingers in 1977-78 as well as three minor pro teams. The Barons folded in 1978 and the Minnesota North Stars picked up his rights. A existing knee injury caused the North Stars to ask Allan to come to training camp without a contract. He refused and played some games in 1978-79 with the Toledo Goaldiggers and the Los Angeles Blades of the Pacific Hockey League. He retired in 1979.
