| - Nharöskemo (also spelled Nharoskemu) [n̥ar.o:.skəmo] is the major religion of the Far North, and among the most famous practitioners was the great God-King Balor Ebonthal, who heavily promoted its worship throughout his empire. Like most religions of the world, it is shamanistic, based on the ancestors and multiple gods. The concept of appeasement playing heavily in the religion, as every man, woman, and child takes a God or Goddess as his or her patron, and prays to this patron in times of need, and whenever an achievement is preformed, such as catching fish, taking down a deer, or harvesting the crops, their patron is thanked, and a part of the food given to the God. Priests play a large role, offering up the prayers to the Gods and being able to offer sacrifices on behalf of a large community. Priests dedicate themselves not to a single patron, but to the entire pantheon, and must learn the name of every single major God, and the local ones as well, which exist only in that Kingdom or that town. However, by far, the most powerful practitioners of the religion are the Shamans, of who only twenty existed when Balor Ebonthal's empire was at its height, roughly half a Shaman for every country that he conquered. Shamans were able to brew many potions, which could reportedly send one into the Afterlife to communicate with ancestors, cast battle-spells that hardened the skin like leather, and speak to the Gods as if they were friends. Some Shamans could freeze lakes during summer, or awaken a person from a coma.
