- Room at the Top is a 1957 British novel by John Braine, which was turned into a film in 1959. Both tell of the rise of an ambitious young man of humble origin, and the socio-economic struggles surpassed in realising his social ambitions in post-war Britain. "Monsterpiece Theater" of Sesame Street used the title as a basis for a skit where Grover climbs to the top of a mountain, only to find Monsters gathered on the top (including Telly and Spalding Monster).
