The January 9 - 10, 2018 tornado outbreak was an outbreak in severe weather in the central US that was responsible for at least 8 tornadoes touching down in the states of Missouri and Kansas.The outbreak began in the late afternoon hours of January 9, and continued into the early hours of January 10. In the overnight hours of January 9 - 10,an EF2 tornado hit Joplin, Missouri, causing $10 million in damages and killing a person when their mobile home was tossed several meters into the air and was pulled apart. In addition to this, 2 EF1 tornadoes also touched down, one damaging a farm, the other crossing a major highway in Kansas, injuring several people in the process. In addition to these tornadoes, several EF0's also touched down, causing hardly any damage whilst they were on the ground
