Late in the East Pacific Hurricane Season, a Tropical depression formed on the 24th of October and strengthened into Tropical Storm Phoenix. Tropical Storm Phoenix moved northwest, gradually strengthening into a Category 2 Hurricane by the 26th, from there, Hurricane Phoenix rapidly intensified until peak intensity on October 27th. Nearing Cabo San Lucas, it maintained Category 5 status. Hurricane Phoenix instead took a northeast turn towards Mexico. Phoenix made landfall as a strong Category 4 Hurricane in Manzanillo, Mexico, on the 28th, rapidly weakening into a Depression and dissipating on the 29th, Hurricane Phoenix killed nearly 900 people and injured 1200+ others.
