The 2012 Presidential elections of Argentina were held on March 18 and April 1 in two rounds to determine the President of Argentina for the Presidential term lasting from 2012 to 2016. Incumbent President Raúl López was term limited and thus ineligible to run again. After the first round on March 18, PJS candidate and Buenos Aires Governor Daniel Scioli and PDL candidate and sitting Vice President Julio Cobos advanced to the second round with 36.4% and 33.9% of the vote, respectively. In the second round on April 1, Scioli defeated Cobos 52.3% to 47.7%, making him President-elect to be sworn in May 1, 2012.
