They first appear in the level Coral Capers and make their next in Clam City and their final in Poison Pond. In the Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance remakes of Donkey Kong Country, they can be found in the Funky's Fishing minigame and appear in different colors instead of their regular colors being red, yellow, darker green, or blue. There is also a rainbow colored one in the game which counts as any color.

  • Bitesize are small aquatic enemies often found in Donkey Kong Country. Despite their very small and innocent looks (almost looking like a background figure), they are actually as strong as a Chomps or Chomps Jr. when it comes to strength; one touch kills a Kong or hurts Enguarde. In fact, the fish share the same weakness: Enguarde's reliable sword-like bill. As an underwater enemy, name and size is the only real difference in threat to Donkey Kong. Bitesize often appear in small pairs, casually swimming in the water levels. Bitesize do not target the Kong and either swim right in front of them.
  • Bitesize is an aquatic fish-like enemy found in Donkey Kong Country in all of the underwater levels, except for Croctopus Chase. They are small green-like fish who bite Donkey and Diddy Kong as an attack. These enemies appear alone or in a large school. They can't be defeated by Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong so they must avoid it. However, Enguarde may defeat them in one strike. They don't chase the Kongs or Enguarde. Instead, they move in a random pattern left or right or back and forth the entire time.

They first appear in the level Coral Capers and make their next in Clam City and their final in Poison Pond. Despite their weakness and size, they have the strength of a Chomps as a simple touch can instantly defeat a Kong or injure Enguarde. These enemies cannot be defeated by Donkey and Diddy themselves, but can be defeated by Enguarde's sharp bill. These enemies don't chase Donkey and Diddy underwater, but go in various directions such as going left then right and so. They appear alone, in small groups, or in a large school. They act very similar to Chomps and Chomps Jr. as they have to same ways of attacks.

In the Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance remake of Donkey Kong Country, various Bitesize of different colors are found in several challenges at Funky's Fishing. The fish come in red, blue, green and yellow palette swaps, whose objective was to catch groups of the same color. There were also flashing rainbow-like Bitesizes, which essentially served as wildcards and would count as any color.

The Bitesizes can be regular coloured or pure red, blue, green, or yellow or even flashing ones.
