The Saints entered their season for the first time as defending Super Bowl and National Football Conference (NFC) champions, and played in the NFC South Division. The franchise attempted to better their most successful season in franchise history from 2009, which they began undefeated for 13 consecutive games only to lose their last three games at the end of the season to finish 13–3.
