Hormes was the god or daimon of impulse or effort, eagerness, setting oneself in motion, and starting an action. In war context, hormê was a violent forward movement like an attack. However it is presumed that the Hormes that was worshipped in Athens was the virtue of industrious effort. His counterpart was Aergia, the goddess of sloth.
