Pawnicles ran a stall in the once-thriving marketplace in Midasius. He told Hercules and Salmoneus that the marketplace died when King Midas opened his gambling palace, the Golden Touch. Pawnicles took the opportunity to begin a pawn business so the locals could sell him their belongings for money to gamble away at the Golden Touch. Hercules frowned upon this form of business. Pawnicles offered Salmoneus 2 dinars for his "sport toga" which Salmoneus declined.
