He met with the Terran Dominion ground force commander Colonel Abram Cruikshank, and was initially dismissive of his forces. The two forces set up a line to prevent the zerg forces controlled by the chitha from reaching the third adostra nest. The two forces held, but began to crumble under the chitha's unrelenting assault, and the psionic disruption of the chitha was causing his warriors to fight more sluggishly.

Desperate and unwilling to abandon the wounded Commander Rahas nearby, of whom they couldn't move, Cruikshank approached Alikka with a plan. He would put a terran pilot in a nearby crashed phoenix, and use the ship's ion cannons to assault the zerg as the moved up. The plan worked, and the zerg attack force was pushed back.
