B9-DT was a black and red astromech droid owned and used by the Galactic Empire. The droid contained a series of maps and Imperial transmissions. Shortly after the Battle of Endor, which saw the destruction of the second Death Star and the death of Emperor Palpatine, B9-DT was located on the ice planet Hoth, in the Anoat sector. In their efforts to escape a blockade placed on the Anoat sector following the Battle of Endor, gangster "Happy" Dapp and his Chadra-Fan ally Shortpaw, leader of the trade organization known as the Trade Spine League, dispatched a scoundrel to capture the droid on Hoth. After several firefights with Imperial forces, the scoundrel succeeded and returned to Burnin Konn with B9-DT.
