Conan, Tara and Yusef finally reach Messentia, where Conan discovers, to his disappointment, that peace has broken out and his mercenary skills are not needed. It doesn't take long, however, for the three to get in trouble with the King's soldiers, as Conan stubbornly refuses to get out of the way for the Captain;s procession. It doesn't take long, however, for the three to get in trouble with the King's soldiers, as Conan stubbornly refuses to get out of the way for the Captain;s procession. Realizing that they are too conspicuous, Conan gets a makeover for Tara, forcing her to actually look like a girl, to Yusef's approval. The couple wanders off as Conan looks for an armorer, but Conan is waylaid by a press gang and wakes to find himself tied up and about to be sold as an unwilling sailor. Conan manages to escape with the help of an old woman, who shows him visions of a future on a ship as well as showing Conan the present - Yusef and Tara getting into trouble and killing the Captain of the King's soldiers in a bar fight. Conan goes to their aid, but is captured instead, and is brought before a corrupt judge. When Conan refuses to give ip his friends, he is sentenced to the dungeons, but breaks free and kills the judge, and swiftly rides away through the streets of Messentia.
