He played junior hockey for the Edmonton Oil Kings from 1959 to 1962. Since this was a Detroit Red Wings' farm team, Muloin turned pro with the Edmonton Flyers in 1962-63 and played in 3 games for the Wings in 1963-64. The New York Rangers claimed him in the Intra-league draft in 1964 but Muloin spent the next six seasons in the minors. Finally in 1969-70 he got another NHL chance with the Oakland Seals and he played there for two full seasons. The Minnesota North Stars accquired him at the end of the 1970-71 season but Muloin was back in the minors in 1971-72.
