Death Mountain Summit is a location from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. As its name implies, it is the summit of Death Mountain. Link can travel to Death Mountain Summit after receiving the Bomb Bag from within Dodongo's Cavern, but he is first advised to do so by Darunia after he slays King Dodongo. The trail leading to Death Mountain Summit is extremely dangerous; Boulders fly out of Death Mountain, an active volcano, and land upon the trail leading to the summit. Because of this, Link must purchase the Hylian Shield from the Bazaar in Hyrule Castle Town if he hopes to reach the mountain top in one piece. With the large, metal shield, Link can effectively protect himself from the flying rubble, and reach the summit.

With the large, metal shield, Link can effectively protect himself from the flying rubble, and reach the summit. Once Link arrives at Death Mountain Summit, he finds Kaepora Gaebora who tells him about the beautiful Great Fairy of Power who lives nearby. If Link goes to the left of Kaepora Gaebora, he will find a bombable wall. By destroying it, he reveals a hidden Great Fairy Fountain where the Great Fairy resides. By playing "Zelda's Lullaby" for the Great Fairy, Link receives the Magic Meter and is fully revived. If Link leaves the Fountain and goes to the right of Kaepora Gaebora, he will find the entrance to Death Mountain Crater. Link cannot traverse the crater for very long without the Goron Tunic, however, so he must return as an adult. If Link speaks with Kaepora Gaebora, he will offer to give the hero a lift back to Kakariko Village. When Link returns to Death Mountain Summit as an adult, he finds Biggoron. By completing certain trades in the quest for Biggoron's Sword, Link can speak with Biggoron to finish out the quest.
