| - Pierce Damage or Piercing Damage is a type of damage. When attacking with a Sword, Spear or Bow, and a few unique Maces, a percentage of the weapon's regular Physical Damage is converted to and dealt as pierce damage. Blade Traps, Bolt Traps, and some monster-specific attacks deal pierce damage as well. Pierce Damage ignores the target's armor and it can be reduced by Pierce Resistance.
- Pierce damage is the type of damage inflicted by archers, Cavalry Archers, most gunpowder units, and most siege weapons. Their kind of damage is especially effective against infantry, who often have little to no Pierce Armor to begin with. To gain this kind of armor, technologies must be researched in the Blacksmith or the Storage Pit.

In Age of Empires III and its expansions, pierce damage is known as "Ranged" damage, but is essentially the same thing. Despite what the alternate name might suggest, it is not required by, nor restricted to attack actions that involve a range/projectile (even though that is typically the case).
