Hayward A. Sanford (June 15, 1916 – March 25, 2000) was an American football end in the National Football League for the Washington Redskins. He played college football at the University of Alabama. He was recruited by Paul "Bear" Bryant, an assistant at Alabama at the time. He was also a kicker and won two games by kicking field goals for the Crimson Tide during the 1938 season that put them in the Rose Bowl. Sanford left the NFL after one season to join the Navy and served as an officer during World War II.
