| - Mike Peterson war ein gewöhnlicher Mann, bis er von Centipede mit dem Versprechen, ihm Superkräfte zu geben, angeworben wurde. Da er jedoch die Geheimhaltung des Projekts gefährdete, wollte die Gruppe ihn ausschalten, was Phil Coulsons S.H.I.E.L.D.-Team verhinderte. - Young S.H.I.E.L.D. recruit Jason Todd had a bright future with the international crime-fighting agency. He was personally mentored by both S.H.I.E.L.D. director Bruce Wayne and Moonwing (Dick Grayson). Although Todd was sometimes reckless, he was nonetheless chosen to become the new Moonwing when Dick Grayson temporarily left S.H.I.E.L.D. to attends Oxford University.
- Michael "Mike" Peterson is a cyborg S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. Peterson was an ordinary man until he was approached by a mysterious group who granted him superpowers through use of the Centipede Serum. However, when he compromised the secrecy of the project, they decided to eliminate him, but they were stopped by a group of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents led by Phil Coulson. Some time later, Peterson decided to join S.H.I.E.L.D. Peterson was later recaptured by the Centipede Project and transformed into the cybernetic operative, Deathlok. He was used by the Clairvoyant to keep people off his trail, including Coulson's Team.
- Although initially announced as the new lead feature for Marvel's Worlds Unknown comic, under the title "Cyborg," the first Deathlok series ran in Astonishing Tales #25-36 (cover-dated Aug. 1974 - July 1976). This initial version of the character, Luther Manning, later guest-starred with Spider-Man in Marvel Team-Up #46 (June 1976), and the story from the cancelled Astonishing Tales comics was finished in Marvel Spotlight #33 (April 1977). The third Deathlok, S.H.I.E.L.D. espionage agent Jack Truman, debuted in an 11-issue limited series (Sept. 1999 - June 2000).
