Black Jacks Camp is located in the central country along the top of Midnight Mesa. It is just north of the Cimarron River and up approximately 1000 feet in elevation. The camp is a dry camp, as there are no springs nearby. Some carry water up from Cimarron River Camp and then refill the next day along the trail. There is a reservoir located just down the road from the camp, however in 2004 this reservoir appeared stagnant. Also, as an alternative to reduce water usage at Black Jacks, some crews eat their dinner for lunch at Cimarron River.
