Sri Winchdu was a being who attended the Ephrata Institute on Ephrata IV in the 23rd century. He was a member of a species that had tentacles. When the Ialatls invaded Ephrata IV with their gravity weapons, Winchdu pushed Yvete out of the way of a falling kinetic sculpture. While she got out of the way, he didn't make it himself, with only a tentacle jutting out from beneath the wreckage showing his demise. (TOS novel: The Weight of Worlds)
