Oichu-Kabu was one of the more popular card games in Rokugan, most of which were adopted from gaijin games introduced during the period prior to the Battle of White Stag. After that confrontation, foreign playing cards were banned but new types of card decks were created. The most common of these were the kabufuda deck, which used numeric suits, and the hanafuda deck, wich used flower suits. Oichu-kabu could use either deck of cards, although kabufuda games were by far the most common.
